Worse then Prisoners of War

In the book Mause, by Art Spiegelman, is a comic book that tells of the author's father, who was one of the survivers of the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the time when the Nazi's started to gain power and to kill anyone who wasn't like them, like Jewish people. His fauther first starts out with how life was before the Holocaust, then he starts talking about how things went down hill for all the people who were Jewish. He also talks about how it affected Jewish families who were torn apart from each other.

He first talks about how the Nazis were first small, but in power. One example was of how he was saying that people on the train he was on were talking stories of how the Nazis were beating Jews, and of how many were forced to run away from Germany. Spiegelmans father also told of how the Nazis were killing Jews on the street when they were in total control. He spoke of how there was a mass killing on his way do "work", and of how he was close to being one of the dead.

I can not say anything about some relation with the Holocaust personally, but I can connect it to other event's in history. In the poem that we read about the lynching party, it was almost like the Holocaust. Mexicans were being killed with out any fair trail, along with the Jews later in the Holocaust who were killed just for the fun of killing. I just want to say that I am sorry for any one who has lost a loved one during the Holocaust.

I like how you connected this book to the poems we read from class.

  2. I like how you connected the Holocaust to something of similar events, although I do not know much about the Lynching Party except for the fact that we annotated the poem in class. I also like how you didn't use much retell, but stated facts from the book to support your stament.
