An overview of our club's focus and plan

Thinking about perspective: what is the difference between reading from the child of survivors versus hearing from the survivor himself? How does the variation in genre impact our understanding of perspective? What is your own perspective and understanding of these historical events?

Thinking about the need to learn hard truths about our world: why is it important that people learn about these horrific moments in history? How does studying art or literature of wartime (or any struggle of history) deepen our understanding of it?

Thinking about how those hard truths still impact us individually and corporately.  And, how do we process through learning about these truths? How can writing and talking play a role?

Schedule:

Week Two: Read Maus II
Week Three: Read first half of Night, using guided reading questions
Week Four: Read second half of Night, using guided reading questions
