For This, You Will Die by Ellis Dulchin
For the yellow star on your jacket,
For the God of which you believe,
For this, you will die.
For the suffering your kind has caused,
For the "crimes" you have committed,
For this, you will die.
For this is the "solution"
For this will end the troubles of others.
For this, you will die.
For the differences you have,
For the hate in others' hearts,
For this, you will die.
Because they need someone to blame,
Because they cannot accept that they deserve the pain,
For this, you will die.
Great post Ellis. Your writing is very passionate and strong. It was really hard to respond to this book but you did it excellently.
ReplyDeletenice poem! you let the reader feel the pain and confusion that a jew may feel and it really illustrates a great theme.
