In the book night by Elie Wiesel the main character Elie endures the punishments of concentration camps. He and his family were taken to camps. He and his father strive to live but conditions were hard. When they arrived they were treated differently. There were labeled by numbers and called horrible names.
When Elie’s father got slapped for politely asking for the bathroom I was surprised and shocked at how someone can be treated like that. I was angry at how someone could do that to another person. When Elie’s family was transferred to the camps on the train, they experienced a lady lose hope. I was stunned at how people were treating her just because of her loud rants. It wasn’t her fault she lost her family and she lost her hope of seeing them again. I was scared when I read the part of Juliek playing his violin until he died. If it was me I would have focused on surviving. He played his pain out on the violin; he was expressing himself in a sad yet beautiful way.
When I finished reading this book it made me wonder at how someone can treat someone like that so cruelly. People should respect each other. This book also surprises me with all the graphic punishments and things Elie had to do to survive. In the concentration camps it was every man for himself. It’s something no one should have to endure.
